Help UMVA and Sell Your Work

 UMVA is holding a Silent Auction and we would love you to submit one work of art. The first 50 works will be accepted … first come first serve.   So do it today!

 

·       When: Saturday August 3rd, 7-11 pm

·       Where: Merrymeeting Hall, 27 Main St., Bowdoinham

·       What: The Carlo Pittore Silent Art Auction & Costume Ball

·       Why: It’s a Win-Win! Sell your work with well-known Maine Artists while supporting the UMVA!


You decide the minimum bid and choose an amount to donate to the UMVA
(between 50% to 100% of the sale price).

Proceeds will go towards building a much-needed new UMVA website, which will help us all stay connected and in-the-know about upcoming exhibitions, screenings, get togethers, workshops, and more.

Many highly regarded artists across Maine are participating and we'll be promoting this heavily to art collectors, professionals and others. We'd love to have your work in the Auction. 

Below are instructions for submitting your work:

1.     Create a folder on your desktop, and label it with your name

2.     In the folder, put a word document with the following information:

• Your First and Last Name
• Name of the Work, Media, Dimensions (HxW)
• Commercial gallery value of the work
• Minimum bid _  Percent of sales contribution (50% to 100%)

• Optional: a description, explanation or genesis of the piece

3. In the folder, put a JPG or PNG image of the work
• Label your image as follows:
FirstNameLastName_Title_Medium_size_MinimumBid

4. Submit your folder with the image and word doc to the following location:

5. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK IS JULY 5th If you’re within the first 50, you will be contacted on or around July 20th to coordinate delivery of your work to the Auction. We will have volunteers at drop off sites, so you don't have to transport your work to Bowdoinham.

Thank you in advance for participating in our Auction. And please join us in celebrating the UMVA’s 50th Year! It will be a wonderfully memorable, outrageous art party and costume ball. Suggested donation $10-$50. Don’t worry if you don’t like costumes. We’ll have Carlo style eye masks to wear!

Maine’s Coastal Islands Engage Midcoast UMVA Artists

  The Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) - Midcoast Chapter, in partnership with the Friends of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge in Rockland, presents “REFUGE”, a dynamic exhibition of artwork inspired by the unique beauty found in and around Maine’s coastal islands .  The exhibit opens with an artists’ reception on September 27th from 5 to 7 pm at the gallery at the Visitor’s Center, 9 Water St., Rockland, ME.  The gallery is open during the Visitor Center’s open hours from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  The exhibit continues to Dec 13, 2024.    "Pemiquid Parkbellhouse" by  Bernadette de Cesare   Contemporary realist painter Jane Dahmen juried this exhibit which features both representational and abstract works. Take a Closer Look at Mainely Gallery and UMVA Midcoast in August

Alternative Vision is the name of the exhibit featuring both artists from UMVA Midcoast as well as the regular artists who show at Mainely Gallery, 181 Searsport Ave., Belfast, beginning August 2nd and continuing through August 21st. An opening reception is planned for Friday, August 2 at 5:00 p.m. This marks the first time that the Midcoast chapter of the UMVA has collaborated with a commercial gallery.
