Unmonetized - a New Group Show

The Union of Maine Visual Artists is pleased to host the upcoming exhibition: “Unmonetized”, at its Portland Chapter Gallery in the Portland Media Center, 516 Congress Street, Portland Maine, April 1-29, 2022.

The exhibition features installations, new artwork, and video by artists Ruthanne Harrison, Kristen Lanzer, Dave Pettingill, and Barbra Whitten.

The gallery artists are present each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm during April, (with the exception of April 17).

The opening reception is Friday, April 1 from 5-8pm during the Portland First Friday Art Walk. The exhibition is free to the public and the Portland Media Center facility and gallery is ADA accessible.

Artworks in UMVA exhibitions are generally for sale through the artist(s) and a portion of each sale benefits the UMVA.

Maine’s Coastal Islands Engage Midcoast UMVA Artists

The Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) - Midcoast Chapter, in partnership with the Friends of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge in Rockland, presents “REFUGE”, a dynamic exhibition of artwork inspired by the unique beauty found in and around Maine’s coastal islands . The exhibit opens with an artists’ reception on September 27th from 5 to 7 pm at the gallery at the Visitor’s Center, 9 Water St., Rockland, ME. The gallery is open during the Visitor Center’s open hours from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The exhibit continues to Dec 13, 2024. Take a Closer Look at Mainely Gallery and UMVA Midcoast in August

Alternative Vision is the name of the exhibit featuring both artists from UMVA Midcoast as well as the regular artists who show at Mainely Gallery, 181 Searsport Ave., Belfast, beginning August 2nd and continuing through August 21st. An opening reception is planned for Friday, August 2 at 5:00 p.m. This marks the first time that the Midcoast chapter of the UMVA has collaborated with a commercial gallery. This broad theme applies to a different way of looking at things and interpreting them, including different technology, or perspective of other creatures, including a dog and a fly.
