Abstract Photography

  Abstract Photograpy A nine-artist exhibit presented by the Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA)  featuring: J im Kelly, Ann Tracy, John Ripton, Dave Wade, Mark Barnette, CE Morse, Lesley MacVane, Greg Mason Burns, and  Jan Pieter van Voorst van Beest . Curated by Greg Mason Burns. For this exhibit, abstract photography is defined as digitally or otherwise manipulated such that the subject is obscured enough to not be considered realist or documentary photography, for example. Missing Maine Landscapes

 As we transition the blog from one (personal) account to another (specific for UMVA), the September show is on the website...  This from Exhibit Organizer Mark Barnette: The September UMVA Gallery show is online now at https://umvagallery.wixsite. com/exhibits     Missing Maine Landscapes features stellar work by 17 UMVA member artists in response to places or things that have been removed, obscured, replaced, or that disappear (and sometimes re-appear) in the landscape which Maine artists inhabit.  The photo above is by the remarkable Dave Wade and entitled: Portland's Fading Past. First Friday Faves

Ok...  so you know that we have this show opening tomorrow at the UMVA Gallery in the Portland Media Center.... August Weekends 2019.   Show Opening: Friday, 8/2, 5 – 8pm   @ Portland Media Center - Gallery - 516 Congress Street - Portland, ME “Do-gooder” celebrations: live portrait paintings of  good Mainers in gallery window With formidable, illustration skills, Julia Durgee paints the activity, buzz, and beauty of Maine. BUT, just right across the street, there's another First Friday opening of an exhibit of photography by Joanne Arnold, CE Morse and Dave Wade (UMVA member) at Trueline Gallery, (formerly the Salt Institute), 561 Congress St., Portland. Aug. 2nd, 5-7:30 PM.

Go Figure

Although the Members Open show is still up until June 28th, UMVA artists are busying preparing for the next show.  Gallery hours are generally 1 to 4 pm on Sat & Sun, so go check out the show before it's too late... and start looking forward to  We are located inside the Portland Media Center, 516 Congress St., just to the east (or left if you're facing it) of MECA.
